Tchaikovskys OVERTURE FOR THE WAR OF 1812 long tied with its cannon booms to July 4th and other such similar celebrations had nothing to do w America let alone North America was connected to the BATTLE OF BORODINO where Napoleon stopped the Russians. Canadian and American symphony orchestras in TORONTO & BALTIMORE will simultaneously play on June 17 Fathers Day a NEW Overture of 1812 written by Baltimores own Philip Glass. The TSO has a leg up on the BSO w the TSO rehearsing the piece TWICE b4 showtime & the BSO rehearsing the piece the morning of. Reason being? Although a musical vunderkind Glass seems 2 overload his worktime 4 his piece already being touted as NO TCHAIKOVSKY but clearly a GLASS clamored 4 by other orchestras already
